In applying solid chemical fertiliser there is much waste (up to 80%) in terms of ground run-off and leaching. The summary of Monty’s in the rhizosphere (root zone) can be examined by looking at the reduction of added nitrogen to sustain the same yields as fields using conventional fertiliser.
